Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a steep learning curve involving
significant staff training?
No! Anyone with a basic experience of computers
can very quickly understand how to operate Envision. A free one hour training session
covers the more advanced features such as Roomsets, using iTunes to
synchronise music with the slideshow and the Phase One data feed.
What happens when new products & frames
are introduced?
Envision has been designed to allow new product templates to be
added very rapidly and a new version will be made available. All
software updates are included in the monthly rental price.
How will Envision integrate with my existing
software and current working practices?
Envision is designed to enhance (not replace) your existing
software and working practices. It will operate happily alongside PhaseOne (StudioPlus), Photoshop and iTunes. Show files
can be converted using your preferred RAW file conversion software and
images prepared for the show in Photoshop exactly as before. Envision
allows sales staff to design products together with the customer
during the show. Venture order forms and contact sheets are
automatically generated and printed.
Will the additional features available with Envision slow down my
viewing?
From feedback received over the last three+ years, all studios have reported that
Envision has saved them time before, during and even after the show:
Before the show
Fully framed products can be created in a few seconds and saved as
jpgs to the show folder. This has proved to be popular with studios
who are reporting a time saving of 10 minutes or more in preparing
sample products for the show.
During the show
With just a few mouse clicks, life-size products can be created during the viewing,
together with the customer, without the need to leave the preview room for
further image manipulation.
The product designer and new roomset toolbar helps customers to better
visualise their potential purchase as it might look in their own home.
As well as speeding up the decision making process, customers enjoy
being more involved in the final product design resulting in a
better overall experience for both customer and viewer.
Automatic completion and printing of order forms and contact sheets
saves valuable time during the viewing.
After the show
Studios are also reporting that Envision helps lower the returns
rate as customers are able to see exactly what they are ordering
with no surprises in store eg. prints arriving back from the lab with unexpected crops,
badly positioned Strata images etc.
What is the minimum spec. machine that Envision will run happily on?
Envision runs best on a 3GHz+ single core PC or 1.5GHz+ multi core PC, with ideally 3GB or more of RAM.
However, a PC with a minimum of 1.5GHz CPU and at least 500Mb RAM can be
used if the show files are converted to around 600pixels. A 'Convert Show' button is included specifically to
perform this conversion. If you have a MAC or would like to use the Linux operating system please contact us as versions could be
made available for other operating systems at no extra cost.
How can I calibrate my projector to show colours more accurately?
Projector calibration can be best achieved with dedicated hardware like the Spider projector attachment which is used
in a similar way to the screen attachment. However is is possible to get good results using software to create ICC profiles
visually. Two well known software packages are Adobe Gamma and the free Calibreze software
package (ad-sponsered but very unobtrusive) - see http://www.calibrize.com for more details.
Adobe Gamma is included with all version of Adobe Photoshop, however in CS3 and later it is not installed by default.
To run Adobe Gamma (in Windows 7) you will need to navigate to the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration' folder and
double click on 'Adobe Gamma.cpl' control panel applet which will start the calibration process. There are many websites and Youtube
videos that can explain this process in full detail.
